Keep yourself on a Pedestal

Keep yourself on a pedestal,
always, you have to.
To stay alive,
with dignity, with pride,
you have to.
To look at the horizon
past the lies on which
your grounds you built,
you have to.

Set your pedestal.
Not too high, not too low,
just make sure it’s on sturdy toes
’cause you already are wearing
a rope for a tie
one end tied at a height,
with the noose tight.

So set a sturdy one
for the life, you hackled so,
for you cannot afford
that pedestal
on those ramshackle toes.
